Ables Top Hat Chimney Sweeps was started in Brady, Texas after we could not find a sweep for ourselves. Friends said, "I don't know of one but if you find one let me know." So we decided to do it ourselves. The response was great and we haven't looked back yet. We have cleaned chimneys along a 200 mile section from San Angelo to Waco. Our primary cleaning areas are Coryell and Bell counties. We are hoping to soon open an office in the Marble Falls area too. If someone outside of our primary services area would like us to clean outside the area all we ask is that you talk to your friends and neighbors and line up about 5 or 6 chimneys so it will worth the investment in travel time for us to do it and we will make arrangements to service your fireplace and make you safe.
Doug Ables was one of the first sweeps in Texas to be certified by the Wood Heating Safety Alliance. He realized the benefit of certification and has maintained the knowledge level intended by the process.
Ables Top Hat Chimney Sweeps has been featured in the Brady Standard Herald, Copperas Cove Leader Press and the Killeen Daily Herald and is the only chimney sweep ever featured on the long running "Sounds of Texas" radio program and TV's Texas Country Reporter.
Doug wears a real top hat and tuxedo and is helped in the Copperas Cove area by his son Micah who by the way has accepted an appointment to West Point to begin this summer. In Temple and Belton by son Shandy and son-in-law Daniel Priestly. In the Marble Falls area by son-in-law Derland Bahr and grandsons Joseph and Samuel Bahr(when they get a little older).
